U.S. SUPREME COURT HEARS ARGUMENTS THIS WEEK IN 14TH AMENDMENT BALLOT CHALLENGE AGAINST TRUMP
The United States Supreme Court is set to have oral arguments this week in the 14th Amendment challenge that has been brought against President Trump in Colorado (Trump v. Anderson).
According to an order from the court on January 5, 2024, the oral arguments have been set for Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024. The hearing will occur on the same day as the Nevada 2024 GOP caucus.
According to Fox News, the Feb. 8 oral arguments are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. ET, with a potentially expedited hearing “within days or weeks,” the outlet reported.
In an attempt to remove President Trump’s name from the ballot in 2024, several legal challenges have been filed, but none of them have been successful.

The reason for the Thursday hearing is a Colorado State Supreme Court decision that barred him from running in the primary in 2024.
The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to ultimately settle the matter.
In January, over 175 House and Senate Republicans joined an amicus brief of support for Donald Trump written by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
“The legislators urge the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision,” the brief read.

The crux of the legal challenges, including in Colorado, against Trump’s candidacy in 2024 is based on the 14th Amendment, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, which states that anyone who has taken part in an “insurrection or rebellion” cannot hold public office in the United States.
President Trump has regularly criticized the ongoing legal battles that he is facing in 2024, calling it “THE RADICAL LEFT DEMOCRATS NEW WAY OF CHEATING.”
He wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, “REMEMBER, ALL OF THOSE TRIALS, AND ALL OF THAT LITIGATION YOU CONSTANTLY READ AND HEAR ABOUT, FEDERAL, STATE, & LOCAL – CRIMINAL & CIVIL – IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY CROOKED JOE BIDEN, AND HIS THUGS AT THE DOJ, IN ORDER TO INTERFERE WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2024.”
