Donald Trump stated in early December that he believed states like New York and New Jersey could be an electoral slam dunk for his campaign in 2024, bucking against what is generally expected for Republicans in traditional “blue states” amid a historic election year.
“I’m telling you, this is a place that can be won, and we have the team to do it,” President Trump said during remarks at the New York Young Republican Club’s 111th Annual Gala in 2023.
He also declared, “We’re going to WIN New Jersey…and we’re going to do a job that nobody’s been able to do.”
The president took this vow to new heights in recent comments made exclusively to Breitbart, when he promised to “make a heavy play for New York, heavy play for New Jersey, heavy play for Virginia, heavy play for New Mexico, and a heavy play for a state that hasn’t been won in years, Minnesota.”
As part of his promise to campaign hard in places that are thought to be blue strongholds, he will hold signature MAGA events, which are known for getting people to vote in the strangest places.
President Trump confirmed this when he told the outlet, “I’m going to do rallies, I’m going to do speeches, I’m going to work them.”
In his interview with Breitbart, Trump even hinted that he “may rent Madison Square Garden and that’s the belly of the beast, right?”
In his speech, he said that illegal immigration was making life hard for people in New York and was sure that he could get more people to vote for him in the Empire State and beyond.
According to data from Race to the WH that looks at the future general election, Trump is already well ahead in states like North Carolina, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Nevada that are considered to be “battlegrounds.”
That being said, anything could happen in November if enough Americans are unhappy with Biden’s America.
