SUPREME COURT GEARS UP TO HEAR TRUMP’S PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY CASE ON APRIL 25

The Supreme Court is gearing up to hear the Trump v. United States case on presidential immunity on April 25.

AP News reported earlier this year that the Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments on whether President Trump can be prosecuted for Special Counsel Jack Smith’s charges in the election interference case.

AP shared that the Supreme Court said it would decide “whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office.”

The Supreme Court has also received hundreds of pages of filings in support of President Trump.

According to the Washington Examiner, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall submitted a filing that read, “After waiting 30 months to indict President Trump, the Special Counsel has demanded extreme expedition from every court at every stage of the case. His only stated reason, the ‘public interest,’ is so thin it’s almost transparent.”

So far, the outcome of the April 25 case looks positive, considering that the Supreme Court has previously ruled that presidents are immune from civil liability. President Trump’s lawyers are hoping to add immunity from criminal prosecution as well.
