On Wednesday night, Trump wrote, “I know Ron.” “He will handle the country the same way he handled his announcement!”
After months of rumors, DeSantis announced this week that he would run for president after deciding to visit crucial election-year states in early 2023 to promote both his new book, “The Courage to be Free,” and his “Florida Blueprint” for success.
Despite Twitter’s technical issues, the governor’s initial campaign kickoff video garnered a cumulative 30 million views in the first 15 hours, according to the DeSantis campaign. Unlike President Trump’s declaration of his bid for the presidency in 2024, which was made at Mar-a-Lago last year, this statement was made entirely online for the first time in presidential history.
Right now, Trump is the overwhelming frontrunner in the 2024 GOP primary race, leading DeSantis by an average of 30 points. According to FiveThirtyEight polling, Trump is holding a 33.7-point lead over DeSantis with GOP voters.
