Trump Slams Judge Engoron, Calls Him a “Radical Leftist” and “Enemy of the People”
In a scathing attack, former President Donald Trump slammed Judge Arthur Engoron, calling him a “radical leftist” and an “enemy of the people” after the judge ordered Trump to comply with a subpoena from the New York State Attorney General’s office.
Trump and his organization were subpoenaed in January to provide papers and testimony for a financial fraud probe. Trump refuses the subpoena, calling it politically motivated and overbroad.

In a statement on Saturday, Trump accused Engoron of being a “partisan hack” and said that the judge’s ruling was “an attack on democracy.”
“Judge Engoron is a radical leftist who is determined to destroy my family and my business,” Trump said. “He is an enemy of the people and his ruling is a disgrace to the American justice system.”
Trump’s newest attack on Engoron follows his many attacks on the judiciary. Trump has regularly accused judges of prejudice and seeking to overthrow his government.
In 2018, Trump called Judge Jon Tigar, who blocked his travel ban, a “so-called judge” and a “disgrace to the country.” Trump also attacked Judge James Robart, who blocked his executive order on immigration, calling him “a political hack” and a “so-called judge.”
Attorneys and lawmakers from both parties have decried Trump’s judiciary attacks. Trump’s attacks on the court are destroying public trust and might cause a constitutional crisis, critics warn.
