Trump Receives Prestigious Award from Republican Party. Trump: “We’re Going to Win Four More Years in a Row
The Oakland County Republican Party named former president Donald Trump the “Man of the Decade” on Sunday, June 25, 2023. At the party’s yearly Lincoln Day Dinner in Novi, Michigan, Trump received the honor.
Trump also spoke about his plans to run for president again in 2024. “We’re going to win four more years in a row,” he said. “We’re going to make America great again.”
Standing ovations from the audience followed Trump’s acceptance of the prize. He raged for almost an hour, accusing Democrats and the “extreme left” of “stealing” the 2020 election from him.

“I am being indicted for you,” Trump said, referring to the two federal indictments he has faced since leaving office. “Every time the radical left Democrats, Marxists, communists, and fascists indict me, I consider it a great badge of honor and badge of courage. I consider it both. Essentially, I’m being indicted for you.”
Trump’s award received a variety of responses. While some Republicans hailed the choice, others deemed it improper.
“This is a great honor for President Trump,” said Oakland County GOP Chairman Dave Agema. “He’s a true American patriot who has done so much for our country.”

Republicans didn’t agree with the choice to honor Trump, though. A Republican insider who requested anonymity stated, “This is a slap in the face to all the other Republicans who have fought hard for our party.” Trump is a polarizing figure who has harmed our party more than helped it.
Trump’s prize comes at a time when he is dealing with several legal issues. Trump is dealing with numerous civil cases in addition to the two federal indictments.
Whether Trump can overcome these obstacles and secure the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 remains to be seen. The honor he won on Sunday night, though, is a definite indication that he still has a broad base of Republican support.
