TRUMP REACTS TO CHRIS CHRISTIE’S BID FOR PRESIDENT
Donald Trump vowed that former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will kill his closest competitor in the race for the White House, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. This week, Christie is slated to officially begin his campaign for president.
Trump quoted his spokesperson Karoline Leavitt as saying that Christie would “eat DeSantis’ lunch” as a result of DeSantis’ “spiraling” campaign in a statement from MAGA Inc.
According to a statement from Trump, “Ron DeSantis’ campaign is in free fall and President Trump’s supremacy over the Republican primary field has created a frenzied rush to claim the mantle for runner-up.”
“Ron DeSantis is not prepared for this situation, and Chris Christie will eat DeSantis’ lunch right away,” he continued.
Chris Christie was previously a well-liked two-term Republican governor of New Jersey, a red state. However after scandals like “Bridgegate” in 2013, he lost favor and left office in 2018 with a 15% approval rating.
On Tuesday, Christie is anticipated to announce his second run for the presidency. He ran for president in 2016, but after doing poorly in New Hampshire, he gave up and endorsed Trump.
The former governor is renowned for his aggressive, abrasive debating style. During a 2016 presidential primary debate, he publicly criticized Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for his “memorized 30-second monologues” that he kept repeating.
He will have to compete against his fellow leading contenders, though. According to the most recent primary poll from Echelon Insights, 1% of Republicans currently support a Christie run in 2024.
