According to their research, the president has a commanding 56-point lead for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, garnering 70% of support from a field of potential primary contenders, including former vice president Mike Pence and Florida governor Ron DeSantis, as well as declared candidates like former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley.
Republicans gave Gov. DeSantis 14% of their support in that survey.
The findings of the Kentucky survey by Emerson College come after a Co-efficient GOP primary poll revealed that Trump had a 33-point advantage over the other candidates. Gov. DeSantis received 19% of the vote compared to Trump’s 52% in that same poll.
On his Truth Social account, the president commented on the most recent polling results, writing, “Rob DeSanctimonious and his poll numbers are dropping like a rock – I would almost be inclined to say, these record “falls”.” Is “Rob” just inexperienced, young, and naive, or, more concerning, is he a fool who doesn’t know what he is doing? We don’t require another one as we already have one of those at the office. MAGA!”
DeSantis hasn’t formally declared his intention to run for president in 2024, but it’s possible that he may do so when Florida’s legislative session concludes in May.
Based on two sources who claim that the DeSantis campaign is supposedly ready to shift to a new base of operations this week, which would trigger financial disclosure laws, NBC6 Miami reported that the governor’s rumored candidacy for president may come at any time.
