Trump Goes After George Soros Supported DAs In New Campaign Video
Former President Donald Trump launched a new attack on progressive district attorneys on Thursday, accusing them of being “in the pocket” of billionaire George Soros and vowing to launch “sweeping” investigations into them.
In a video released to his Truth Social platform, Trump singled out Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is looking into Trump for possible financial crimes. Trump asserted that Soros, a Democratic megadonor who has frequently been the subject of right-wing conspiracy theories, gave Bragg “over $1 million,” according to his claims.
“These Soros prosecutors are all over the country,” Trump said in the video. “They’re all being funded by George Soros. They’re all radical left Democrats. They’re all trying to destroy our country.”

Trump’s assaults on Soros and the progressive district attorneys are part of a larger Republican effort to discredit the movement for criminal justice reform. Progressive district attorneys (DAs) have recently won elections in a number of important cities, including San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Chicago. These DAs have committed to curtailing mass incarceration and emphasizing rehabilitation more than punishment.
These DAs have been charged with being soft on crime and susceptible to Soros’s influence by Trump and his backers. These claims, however, are unsupported by any evidence. In fact, according to a recent study by the Vera Institute of Justice, the implementation of progressive DA policies has not increased crime.
Democratic opposition to Trump’s attacks on the progressive DAs seems expected. Progressive district attorneys have been defended by a number of Democratic officials, who claim that their only goal is to improve the fairness of the criminal justice system.

It’s conceivable that the fight over the progressive DAs will play a significant role in the 2022 midterm elections. Trump’s attacks are being seized upon by Republicans in an effort to regain control of Congress. Democrats, on the other hand, are seeking to support the liberal district attorneys and their plan for criminal justice reform.
Trump’s attacks on the progressive district attorneys have yet to be seen in action. Yet his most recent video shows he’s committed to making this problem the centerpiece of his political platform.
