If Donald Trump is reelected president of the United States next year, he will “end up” in a “mental institution,” he threatened special counsel Jack Smith and other DOJ officials.
Trump attacked Smith, former DOJ official Andrew Weissmann, and U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco in a post on Truth Social.
The 45th president labeled them the “team of losers and misfits,” claiming that they are not only “working illegally” to take him down but suffer from “Trump derangement syndrome.”
“Deranged Jack Smith, Andrew Weissmann, Lisa Monaco, the ‘team of losers and misfits’ from CREW, and all the rest of the Radical Left Zealots and Thugs who have been working illegally for years to ‘take me down,’ will end up, because of their suffering from a horrible disease, TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (TDS!), in a Mental Institution by the time my next term as President is successfully completed,” Trump wrote.

Smith is currently overseeing two separate criminal investigations into Trump. His two cases have indicted the former president for allegedly attempting to overthrow the 2020 elections as well as allegedly mishandling classified documents, according to BBC.

Notably, Weissmann and Monaco have contributed significantly to the Trump investigation. Weissmann is well-known for having led the prosecution of Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, and for overseeing the well-known Trump-Russia probe.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, Monaco served as former President Obama’s homeland security adviser during the Obama administration until being approved as deputy attorney general in April 2021. Since then, Monaco has taken the lead in the inquiry into claims that Trump is trying to sabotage the 2020 election.
