TRUMP CONGRATULATES MCCARTHY ON WIN, ADVISES NEXT MOVE: ‘WE MUST NOW STOP MITCH MCCONNELL’ Trump congratulates McCarthy on victory, suggests next steps; ‘Of course, we have to stop Mitch McConnell now’
Trump advised newly minted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., on Monday what his first order of business should be now that the gavel has passed into Republican control.
“Great job Kevin,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Now we need to stop Mitch McConnell and his China flagrant boss, Coco Chow. He doesn’t seem to care anymore, he just goes through whatever the Democrats want.
Trump has made no secret of his distaste for Senate Minority Leader McConnell, R-Ky., and his comments came after the Reno Republican made a joint appearance with Joe Biden in Kentucky.
According to the Washington Post, McConnell joined Biden last week at a White House event along the Ohio River to promote a $1.6 billion Fed investment in a bridge project. Many saw McConnell’s bipartisan move as another indicator that the increasingly soft-spoken senator might just be a Democrat.
Trump also said in his statement that last week’s $1.7 trillion fast-track bill was horrible. Zero for USA border security. If he had waited only 10 days, now the ‘United Republican Congress could have made it better. Something is wrong with McConnell and those Republican senators who vote with him. All of them in the primary.
Earlier, McCarthy was elected as the new Speaker of the House on Saturday morning, securing victory with 216 votes on the 15th ballot.
“I especially want to thank President Trump,” McCarthy said via RSBN.
Trump McCarthy’s “Truth Socially” comment after the win. Thank you, Kevin. It was my great honor.
It remains to be seen whether McCarthy fulfills his promise to firmly lead House Republicans.
