Trump Calls Biden Admin ‘Stupid’ For Letting NATO Take Advantage Of U.S. In Ukraine Aid

Former President Donald Trump said in a press conference at CPAC 2023 Saturday that the Russia-Ukraine war “should be settled in 24 hours” and ripped into the Biden administration’s handling of the conflict.

“Meanwhile, would you encourage congress to continue to provide aid to Ukraine,” a reporter asked Trump.

“What I don’t like seeing is that the United States is in for $140 billion and they’re in for less than $25 [billion],” Trump added.

In response, the former president urged Europe and NATO to begin paying its fair amount to Ukraine. “I would argue that Europe should start spending money,” Trump said. We’ve reached 140 billion dollars, whereas they’ve only reached 15 billion. It’s the same old tale. Whether it’s trading with Europe or any of our other activities. NATO, see, I persuaded them to put up more than $400 billion dollars because Europe wasn’t paying for NATO when I arrived… and I persuaded them to put up $447 billion in a very short amount of time. They wouldn’t be able to battle Russia right now if it weren’t for me.”

The foreign conflict also “affects them [Europe and NATO] more” Trump continued, before saying the United States’ continuous funding makes us look “stupid.”

“Let us not be labeled as a stupid country,’ as they do, since we are defending that entire issue, which affects Europe more than us. Germany is not paying its fair portion, other nations are not paying their fair share, and the United States is carrying the entire burden, which is not appropriate.”

“If you said the proper things to him, they’d agree to pay in 10 minutes,” Trump said.
