STATE OF THE RACE: TRUMP HOLDS BIG LEAD, RAMASWAMY POISED TO ECLIPSE DESANTIS
In the 2024 GOP primary contest, President Trump is maintaining a sizable lead, but Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is losing ground to a shockingly young challenger who could surpass him.
For instance, according to a recent Ipsos poll, Trump now commands 4 points more than in June or 47% of the GOP primary vote. DeSantis suffered a 19 percent decline, which equals a 3-point defeat.
Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has gained popularity among Republican supporters, garnering 9 percent of the vote, a 6-point increase from June.
According to a July poll of GOP primary voters by Kaplan Strategies, Ramaswamy was more well-liked than ever and tied with DeSantis for second place with each candidate receiving 12 percent of the vote.

In their poll, President Trump had a commanding 36-point lead.
On Truth Social, Trump responded to Ramaswamy’s upward trend and attacked DeSantis and the former governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, with some scorching humor.
He wrote, “Vivek Ramaswamy is now beating DeSanctimonious. Christie is dead as his stomach band. ‘Aida’ Hutchinson is a solid minus 1%. I’m up 44 points!!! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Trump had a 25-point advantage over DeSantis according to YouGov. In a head-to-head contest, Trump received 54% of the vote against DeSantis’ 33%.
Incidentally, Race to the WH predicted that DeSantis would get 259 delegates in the 2024 Republican primary, which they called “a new low,” while Trump is expected to win 2,116 delegates.
It takes just 1,234 delegates to secure the nomination.
Trump wrote on Truth Social this week, “Fox-backed Ron DeSanctimonious is DONE. Against Social Security & Medicare – and, less importantly, has NO PERSONALITY!!!”
