New York Judge Refuses to Delay Trump Lawsuit

The New York Attorney General is suing former President Donald Trump and his named real estate business for $250 million. The NYAG asked the judge to delay the start of the civil trial, but the judge said no.

The claim says that Trump and his business lied about Trump’s wealth for years in order to get better loan terms and insurance coverage, which increased his net worth by billions of dollars.

That the trial should be put off until after the 2024 election so that it wouldn’t get in the way of Trump’s campaign, that was what his lawyers said. Lawyers made points, but Judge Arthur Engoron said they had “completely without merit” and the hearing should go ahead as planned on October 2, 2023.

The judge’s decision is also good news for Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, who has been looking into Trump’s business ties for a long time. James has said she will hold Trump responsible for anything he does wrong.

Many people will be watching the trial, and a lot of attention will be on Trump and his teams. Even though we don’t know how the case will end, the judge’s decision is a big step forward in the ongoing court fight between Trump and James.
