John Durham, the special counsel who has been looking into allegations of “Russian collusion” against President Donald Trump ever since his presidential campaign in 2016, has published a report in which he argues the FBI and the DOJ made severe mistakes in managing the inquiry years ago.

From Fox, via the report:

“This information in part triggered and sustained Crossfire Hurricane and contributed to the subsequent need for Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation. In particular, there was significant reliance on investigative leads provided or funded (directly or indirectly) by Trump’s political opponents.”

Further, the report noted that they “also considered as part of its investigation the government’s handling of certain intelligence that it received during the summer of 2016.”

The report continued, “That intelligence concerned purported ‘approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016, from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.’”

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), announced on Twitter that the committee has contacted the DOJ and requested that Special Counsel John Durham testify next week as a result of this revelation.
