FBI Makes Big Announcement After Searching Biden’s Delaware Vacation Home

The FBI searched President Joe Biden’s Rehoboth Beach, Delaware home on Wednesday and reportedly found no documents with classified markings.

CNN reported, “Bob Bauer, Biden’s attorney, said the FBI took their handwritten notes and some materials for further review. The search took three and a half hours,” he said.

Bauer said that similar to last month’s search of Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, agents ‘took for further review, some materials and handwritten notes that appeared to be related to his time as vice president.’ Bauer said he confirmed this morning that investigators were searching the home, that the search was planned, and that Biden had his ‘full support and cooperation,’” the outlet added.

It came after the president’s team contacted the National Archives that they had found classified documents at the center in November. An anonymous Justice Department official told CNN that there was no search warrant and that the search in November was conducted in cooperation with the president’s legal team.

Earlier this month, Attorney General Merrick Garland said: “On November 9, the FBI began an assessment, consistent with standard protocol, to understand whether classified information may have violated federal law.”

NBC News noted that in addition to collecting the documents, FBI agents also seized several notebooks at Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home that he wrote during his time as vice president, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

They do not have classified markings on them, but some handwritten notes inside them could be considered sensitive content,” the report said.

“Other pages in the notebook, although they may not contain potentially classified information, may still be considered public property under the Presidential Records Act because, according to a person familiar with the investigation, they relate to Biden’s official business conducted as vice president,” the report continued.

According to a person familiar with the seizure, “the notebooks contain a mix of Biden’s handwritten notes on both personal and official matters.” He also said, “On some pages, Biden wrote something about his family or his life that is not related to public office.”

Biden kept a large number of notebooks, but it is unclear how many were seized by FBI agents.

It also raises questions about whether the notebooks are considered personal or official, and how other vice presidents and presidents who kept the same notebooks while in the office handled them.

In addition to classified documents, questions also surround a lack of transparency about why the US Secret Service has no visitor logs from Biden’s Delaware home.
