DONALD TRUMP CONTINUES TO STRONGLY LEAD GOP PRIMARY FIELD
Donald Trump is leading the pack of Republican primary presidential candidates and future challengers, having amassed significant support among Americans looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election.
In a recent Cygnal survey of prospective Republican voters, President Trump received 64 percent support for the Republican Party nomination, while just 31 percent favored “a different candidate.”
Trump commented on the poll on Truth Social: “Another great Poll just came out. 64% to 31%, I’m sure the Fake News Media will be thrilled!”
Since leaving office in 2021, the president’s popularity has grown among conservative voters. In fact, according to a recent YouGov/Yahoo! News survey, Trump has 46 percent of the support of Independent voters in a 2024 presidential primary campaign, compared to Biden’s 35 percent.
Trump also received the majority of support in a straw poll held by McLaughlin & Associates during this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C. According to their poll, Trump received 62% support for the GOP candidacy in 2024.
Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., finished in second with 20% support, representing a 4-point decline in support for the Florida leader from last year’s conference.
The most recent Morning Consult 2024 GOP Primary Tracker likewise demonstrated Trump’s leadership of the Republican field, with 48 percent of support to DeSantis’s 30 percent.
DeSantis has not officially declared his candidacy for president. So far, the two other declared Republican candidates are former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.
During CPAC, Haley received only 3% of the vote for the Republican nomination, while Ramaswamy received 1%.
